Against Me! - Baby, I'm An Anarchist

Hilarious lyrics to a great song. This was from the era where they were emerging as a great band and Tom was really developing as a song writer. The album this was off, "Reinventing Axl Rose" was underground album of the year in 2002 for tons of reviewers. This song was often played last at Against Me! shows -- it culminated the show as the ultimate sing along and was a perfect ender, but it also deteriorated so badly with kids storming the stage that Tom would take off his guitar and simply sing, if he could even do that. After that it was sorta difficult to put things back together.

Against Me! - Joy, demo version

Demo version of another one of my favorite Against Me! songs. Great stuff. This version is pretty raw and Tom's voice isn't as dynamic but it still sounds amazing. I love listening to what songs start out as and what they become.

Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose

This song was on Against Me!'s first full length, but this version is from their acoustic Ep, and is my favorite. What freaking awesome lyrics. If you don't get it, that's fine, unless you think you get underground music.

We want a band that plays loud and hard every night
That doesn't care how many people are counted at the door
That would travel one million miles and ask for nothing more than a plate of food and a place to rest
They'd strike chords that cut like a knife
It would mean so much more than t-shirts or a ticket stub and they'd stop at nothing short of a massacre

Against Me! - This Shit Rules

"...And I hope I haven't overdone it no. I hope my body can take it. I hope I make the occasion. It's only this fucked up I start realizing all this living is just dying, and if these are my friends, if this is my home, if this is how i spend my nights, how I communicate, and demonstrate a love of life... my eyes roll into the back of my head: if these are the last words that I've ever said -- No! I'm not ready to die just yet!"

One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands. I'm not afraid of dying, I've just got more livin' to do.

Antoine Dodson - Auto Tune The News - Free

This song is so genius and so funny and awesome. The story behind it is great. This guy was on the news because someone tried to rape his sister, in the projects in Mississippi, I think. He was on the news, his persona is a catalyst for controversy, and some folks took his words from the news and used Auto-Tune to "songify" them, added a background track, and voila, a catchy song! And now the guys rolling in the dough, which is awesome, too. Something good came out of it, he moved his family out of the ghetto into a nice home. Awesome.

Bad Shit: Fired Up

Great song from Bad Shit called Fired Up.
Tony Trujillo sings and plays bass. Trixie plays drums and screams a little, and Jake Phelps plays guitar.

4 am, burning bright
Me and Stranger, out all night
Bomb Delores in the rain
Sleeping on a beach in Spain
Want it taste what it's about
Hear it smell it something something
Fired Up
Pour it up, need more speed
Pointech wheels all i need
Ride with style to the store
It's OK I'll get more more
Want it taste what it's about
Hear it smell it the flame you cannot doubt
Fired Up
